That one's already done the rounds in the Caterham forum. There was a long and conclusion-less discussion about whether the guy was a driving god or a tad hamfisted. There's certainly a pretty exciting looking save at one stage!

Try clicking 'play in external player' or similar.

Pfft conclusionless! hehe

We concluded that although the guy clearly knew his way round the ring and had a badly setup car, he was no driving god and his style didn't help towards keeping it tidy.

Or to use my original, more succinct words that upset some 'He's got some bottle, but meh' hehe

The most impressive thing was by far the lap time, if a more capable ringmeister was sat in a well setup R500 it'd make for a surprisingly good time, despite the Caterham's inherent lack of top speed.

Above average levels of skill and commitment on display (if not equal to those of a "Driving God" imo). Looked like a lot of fun (and makes an awesome spectacle), although I think I'd be too petrified to drive the ring in something that fast hehe

I suppose it all depends what you call driving god, for me that was very impressive.

We'll leave it as "bks the size of melons" then! I would have loved to see some similar footage inside the GT2, it looked remarkably stable but then it has a whole heap more downforce than the R500.

Without being disrespectful, he is 'knackered' mentally if not physically 3/4 the way round, missed gears, slotting the wrong gears etc. But of course, we don't know how many laps he's done prior to this, I hope he pulled in after this.

How can I say this.... I've raced and FINISHED two 24hour races at The 'Ring in a Caterham! There's no way you could drive for a tankful, let alone stint after stint, driving like that, no way.

Anyway... respect to the guy, he was certainly 'on it'

He's done one lap already according to the text at the start I believe - think thats a flying lap though as it quotes lap time so might effectively be his third lap I don't know.

It is a fascinating duel. They both certainly put on a good show thumbup

Theres a vid from the GT2 too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRI5Zdtqe8U&fea...

Very interesting, I know little about Caterhams, but it looks it bit too bloody exciting on the corner entry for me, or maybe the driver's got 'big hands'?

Why do people always choose to mount their camera right behind the rear view mirror?! Really bugs me watching track videos subconciously trying to peer under windscreen paraphenalia in an attempt to see the circuit properly biggrin
