Prefer the look of the T350C/T

They have ruined what was possibly the 2nd greatest looking car they have ever produced.
Who did it for them ? Carisma ?
There are some great touches to it, like the cut in front arches with the shape going through the door, the perspex spoiler and the carbon exhausts but after that they have just gone over the top with slashes/holes/lumps and bumps IMHO ...
If it was a concept I would think it was superb, but as a production model it is not floating my boat.
I think it is a bit like the Tamora in that it wasn't really the completed article and was too obviously a Griffith reshaped and updated, but not very well.
This is a T350 that's been cut about a LOT and it spoils what was a stunning design in the first instance.
Shame, couldn't afford it anyway
11/12/2003 18:19:00
but this is very much a race car for the road so at least half of those vents will be useful on track...
11/12/2003 18:20:00
Then again, as someone pointed out, it's for track days so maybe all those cuts serve a purpose, maybe the ugly bumper is to hide the exhausts which are longer now... it still has ruined the lines of the base car

I like that Green one that Ted posted though, beefed up nicely
11/12/2003 18:47:00
11/12/2003 18:48:00
If I were able to influence the final car, I'd suggest they rethink the central bonnet area, rear spoiler and side exit exhaust.
Edited to add: but thinking about it, they're all probably functional rather than to make it look 'nice'.
I haven't done the lottery for a couple of years, I'm doing to do it this week (and mine's a black one).

your not alone
11/12/2003 19:29:00
The rear, on the otherhand, is an improvment on the T350C imo. That exhaust system is just crazy!!
Is the engine just a development of the S6, or a new powerplant all together?
11/12/2003 19:38:00
Looks very fussy to me. I could forgive it if all those vents and scoops were there for aerodynamics, but they look to me as if they are just for styling.
11/12/2003 19:41:00
That is truly bloody awful. IMO, of course.
11/12/2003 19:55:00
Definitely not alone.
Whilst the back end looks a bit "twee" with the spoiler, the overall impression is of something that overwhelmes the senses. Just what a TVR should be!
The last time we were treated to something as otrageous as this was the Tuscan - there's definitely room for this in the range!
11/12/2003 21:11:00
Beat me to it! Budget Batmobile indeed. I do like the front end, dare I say it.
As for the rear..how long before some scrote pulls off the 'loose' looking piece of bodywork by the silencers?
Very brave TVR, a bit like Marmite me thinks.

Its a max power 350. Its not April 1st is it?
And a memo to Mr Wheeler:
Please continue the tradition of innovative and attractive styling. As most ferrari are pretty ugly these days, you looked like the best hope for innovative design. Now don't blow it!
In addition, stop pretending this is 1955. Mankind has invented a way to have devices such as ABS ( switchable) and airbags(small ones) which do not mean that the driver is a softy southern woofter.
After all, faster and even more masculine cars than yours have them these days.
Fit them, and more people will buy your cars.
Crashing into a hedge when the wheels lock up, or watching a Peugeot drive off in the distance in the wet because he is'nt scared of the weather ( and the TVR driver is) is not big, brawny or clever. Its just slow.
IMO, of course..

have to agree with you, this is what drove me away from TVR into the hands of the devil (i.e. Germanic cars). If TVR did a car which looked good, drove even better but was relatively safe then they would have my money instantly.

Et Voila!
I like the rear lights, very cool - hate the OTT nature of the vents, and the crappy perspex spoiler.
Oh, and the headlights looks like theyve been robbed from a Smart Roadster/Coupe.

Sounded alright though

it looks like it was designed and then left on a desk overnight and some cleaner thought "i'll improve this" and rubbed out all the greatness of the design away and filled the missing pieces with a set of rear arches from a xx-pack mk2 escort and every type of airvent available on the modders market......not good!
too many slaps with the ugly stick on that one for me.
12/12/2003 08:14:00
If the various gaping scoops and slashes are part of a tried & tested aero package, which will ape the racing car, then great. If not then why not?
It's about time that us TVR buying fans are able to actually buy something resembling the race cars, rather than the ridiculous situation where the original Tuscan racer had no road-going equivalent, and (unbeleivably) now shares it's name with a road car of totally separate design, engine and chassis.
I haven't got 50 grand spare - so I can't commit to the acid test and put money and mouth in the same place - but I like it!

It's all been said, but I think Kryten summed it up with "ambivilent". Can't decide what I think - brilliant and bad at the same time.
Front end fantastic except bonnet vents. Rear end lose/change the spoiler (read Ted's rants - "tossertable"?). Put exhaust out backwards, thru cut-outs in enormous bumper/spoiler. Keep the rear lights though: pretty damn cool. Inside? Thought they could have got a bit more adventurous here, but never mind.
I can't wait to see Big T's comments now - Is your wallet still cowering, or breathing a big sigh of relief Tony?

12/12/2003 09:25:00

12/12/2003 09:34:00
12/12/2003 09:47:00
I could maybe groow to live with the front, but the back? Sh1te.
12/12/2003 09:51:00
Clearly, with regard to draping the scantily clad/naked female form over the bonnet, the positioning of the flaps is crucial.
The bonnet vents will need positioning too!
12/12/2003 09:51:00
The designer obviously graduated from the 'more-is-more' design school, and his favourite weapon is a knife.
That said, I think the fact it is 'challenging', has a good front end (as viewed from a rear view mirror), and should go like stink should place it suitably in the TVR stable. Just don't lean on the fiddly spoiler or you'll be reaching for the airfix glue again....

The T350x shape is the latest of a long line of beatifully fashioned TVRs. Its uncluttered and sinplistic lines are a joy to behold. This, however is an awful perspective of it.
Don't like it, especially the back end.
12/12/2003 11:26:00
A serious case of builders bum or what?!!!
12/12/2003 11:40:00
I think TVR's should be about understated agression and power. All models since the 80's (speed 12 included) are all sleek curves and only hint of the awesome power lurking beneath. This is just too much 'in your face'. It wouldnt be so bad if it was a totally new model/design but because they have done this to an existing model it makes it seem like its just been maxed.
I'd feel a right plonker driving it through the streets. You know when most of us look at slammed/maxed cars and think 'what a to$$er'? Well what do you think people will say when they see you driving this?
Edited to say it would look mean where it belongs though - on a track.

Is that what they attacked the T350 with to get it?
12/12/2003 14:21:00
They don't exactly have the same purpose do they? This is a race car, the T350C is the safe option.
Just for the record I prefer both the Tuscan and T350C over the Griffith
12/12/2003 14:43:00
12/12/2003 22:27:00
The exterior screams bolt on expcept for the hood which, while well executed, looks inspired by Hotwheels.
But take another close look at the interior. Hideous. The gratuitous use of CF in the doors makes you think they found a few extra rolls lying around, but the reality is probably that CF has become so popular that the designers thought they'd make you choke on it...more = better. Except that it doesn't.
That CF covered exhaust makes me want to laugh out loud. It seriously looks like someone onboard is smuggling a donkey c*ck in the bumper, and it's wiggled its way loose on the road.
The best bit though is the tiny plexiglass spoiler on back. This thing makes every single Lax Power Monster Wing look like "da bomb" in comparison.
Heinous.

That looks so stupid, if you turned up anywhere, and that includes Max Power Live/maccy D's, they would laugh you out of the carpark, still not as bad as a Mynheer (sp?) rover though, last year the trend was to take Espace mirror vents and graft them into the front wings, this is athe next step, it's not a pi$$take is it, having said that, makes a change from the Evo6/F50 bonnet vent on every other bloody saxo (I may defend them, but i don't always like the cars), I'll have a Tamora thanks.
13/12/2003
The pictures don't do it justice and make it appear like a maxed up 350c, but when you see the real thing, awesome.

It's got the real TVR beast look to it. <p>Not sure about the perspex spoiler and weird exhaust wrap-around.
Also, the side exit exhausts will be helpful for burning some ankles!
13/12/2003 18:51:00
Looks very good - the wider track gives it a very purposeful stance.
13/12/2003 21:21:00
Personally, since the Cerbera TVR have been going "away" from what I deem to be nice looking, but each to their own.
I'm sure it'll "go like stink" - but will it handle?

13/12/2003 23:18:00
I found the styling of the TVRs of the 90's visually distinctive, highly appealing and totally without caveat or discomfort about any detail. I don't think there's a better looking car on the road than the Cerbera. I spent years drooling over the Griffith and Chimaera until I bought a Chimaera last year. I readily admit to coveting a black Tuscan. I like the front of the Tamora.
I tried to fall for the T350C+T but eventually decided that you shouldn't have to work hard to fall in love and it now leaves me cold.
And then I saw the Sagaris. OK, I haven't seen it in the flesh, but first impressions are that it looks more like something you'd see on RobotWars than either the track or the road. It seems to evoke emotions more akin to "MG" than "TVR".
For me, TVR has lost the design plot - big time, possibly terminally. I am resigned to being a 90's TVR addict (although I do feel a sense of unfulfilment in never having owned a big wedge).
